For today I’m presenting a snipped from my latest WIP,started it just this week and it’s proving to be something different and exciting to write! Hope you enjoy it!

Teaser– for you and for me (I have no idea how this book is gonna end :)))

He was running. The plants seemed to grow wild and stretch around him, a net of wriggling green trying to catch him, capture him and hold him still. His legs… He knew his legs were all wrong, he couldn’t feel his legs. He could feel the cold. He was trenching through water now. Muddy dark, inky with swirls of something he couldn’t name. The water was alive to, it held him fast too. He still tried, still struggled. By now he huffed, his breathing ragged with the exhaustion, his throat raw with the icy coldness seeping into him. He was drained of energy, moved like through molasses, flagging and close to collapsing. He could see each puff of air, a ghostly mist of white billowing from him. The mist was growing and growing until the sun was no longer there and the moon harshly shone down on him. He could not feel his arms now. His chest hurt and he was afraid. He was terrified as never before. He needed to get away, run faster, do something! He could do nothing. He knew that but he would rather die trying that give up and let him- What was it? He knew who was it? He was just behind him, waiting for Adrian’s steps to falter to catch him, to end him. Adrian won’t stop. Ever. The blasted water! It pulled and pushed, his legs slipped from under him and he fell into its embrace.

It was surprisingly warm and he could breathe better under its surface. There was darkness all around him, safe and quiet. The water was not water, but silk on his skin, prodding like ghostly butterfly caresses at the stinging wounds the plans had left behind when they had grabbed at him. He felt his body relax and his mouth stretched lazily in an awkward seldom used expression- he was smiling. He felt cocooned and protected as if embraced by the mother he had never known probably felt like. He felt his lids flutter and became aware that his eyes were closed, the reason why everything was a vastness of dark flickering. He wanted to see the silk; he just knew it was gorgeous, translucent and blinding in its brightness. Adrian eagerly opened them, his breath caught expectantly. He blinked and froze. His body recoiled but there was nowhere to go. Nowhere to run. He opened the mouth to scream and the blood rushed in his lungs, choking him while the grotesque face floating right in front of him like it was made of tick streams of the vital fluid suffocating him, sneered at him.

Adrian jumped and grunted at the hard impact with the wood floor, his ears ringing. He gulped desperately for air and filled his lungs while tightly squeezing his eyes shut.

“Dream, dream. Just a dream. A fucking dream. Okay. You’re okay, Addy. Everything is okay. Open your eyes. Don’t be a coward, there’s no blood. Christ!”

He tautly rubbed his face and pressed his fingers on his eye sockets, trying to curb the jittery tremors coursing through him and hysterically laughed at the neurotic spooked state he was in.

“Christ, you’re a mess, Addy! No wonder it took you so long to see what bloody Roger was hinting at- you ‘re slipping, my boy.”

He ignored the whispering doubt plaguing him from forever, the niggling thought that he’ll end up bat-shit crazy like his mom, that he won’t even know when it will happen. Another deep breath and he slowly removed his hands. The room looked better in the daylight. The green was less puke-hospital in his bare walls and appeared to give the room a fresh, springy feel. Probably because of the luxuriant ivy framing half the room and window. Adrian had never seen such a lush, coily mass of live greenness in a room before. It reminded him of the old greenhouse he had once saw as kid in an architecture magazine left on the chairs of a best left forgotten metro station. No wonder he was having nightmares with green stuff trying to make a meal of him! His brain must have noticed the plant even if Adrian had been to tired and ready to crash to acknowledge its existence.  It wasn’t bad. That magazine had been the source of many dreams and hopes for a long time. He decided he liked it, nightmare notwithstanding. It was unique and probably unwanted if the owner had dumped it in a new tenant’s room.

“No worries, honey. I’ll take care of you. I bet you’ll like a bit of fresh breeze ruffling those luscious leaves of yours. Darlings like you should be outside, not confide to dusty old rooms. We’ll make do, you and I, won’t we? I promise not to intrude much on your space.” He went and opened the big window facing the backyard, needing himself a fresh gulp of air. The room felt stifling hot. Adrian sighed his pleasure and let his head fall back, inviting the wind in. The voices under his window took care of his feeble attempt at relaxing.

“Nah, I don’t think so. Aiken’s not the type.”

“Sylvie, I don’t think you’re an Aiken expert. The dude practically runs the other way when you enter a room!”

“Well, if you weren’t such a minger maybe you would have managed to land that mouthy tart already and I wouldn’t have to wish that I would grow a penis for that nutter to notice me! Aiken is a nancy. Hey, I have an idea. Maybe it’ll work if you drop the towel. For sure my tits didn’t even make him blink.”

Adrian pulled back and frowned in confusion. He was sure that he had heard Sylvie’s name somewhere else. He leaned a bit, trying to see but they were under him, on some sort of veranda build in the house. Sylvie- wasn’t she one of the other housemates? He heard a resounding slap and her cry. What the-

“Now. Remember who told you about this and who has paid for your gorgeous tits, lovely Sylvie. We wouldn’t want anything happening to the lovelies or to your pretty face would we?”

Um, he didn’t like what he was hearing. Bloody hell, had he managed to land his ass in a bigger mess than the one he had left behind? A door screeched and the voices under him quieted with the new person’s intrusion. Adrian shivered at the low bass voice reverberating through him.

“Hey, guys!  Enjoying the morning? Hope you had a nice time last night, Sylvie- Bloody hell, who hit you? Who was the fucker?”

Adrian retreated further away from the window and his impromptu spy session. He carefully stepped on the oak tick boards, knowing from experience that a house as old as this probably had squeaky floors alerting everybody to his movements. It had been one of the reasons that had made him not look any further that the 17th century old mansion, despite the fact that half of it was a construction site. Hard for anyone to surprise him when the floors moved around under their feet. He choose to ignore that the painter had surprised the hell out of him last night, putting the blame for that on his exhausted state. Bloody hell, but it was hot in here! He brushed the hair out of his face, no longer interested in the strange happenings from downstairs and more worried about the window frame and the odd angle it was bending into. His hands rubbed at his pulsing forehead and even his overheated body could feel the high temperature burning through his skin. He didn’t get the time to ponder to much on this for the shiny floor wanted to say hello and welcome him with a second hard thud for this morning. This time he stayed down, the ringing in his ears downed by a weird stating and his mind groggy and confused. He started shivering, the room icy as the blasted Arctic Pole. Feeling drowsy and drained, he closed his eyes and curled in a tight ball. He’ll get up later, he’ll eat, buy some medicine and go back to sleeppp…

Scared a bit? I know I am, and I’m the one holding the reins to this story! Though sometimes I wonder…

New projects coming!

For anyone that wondered where I was- I know there haven’t been a lot of you, lol- I’m back. Semi-active on the internet, after a month of radio silence, so to speak. Moved to UK, loving it. Probably (hopefully) it’ll be good for my writing. Seems to be so far.. Meaning I have a new story started and finally cooled down enough to start writing again after all the move craziness.

For fans that await the next book in Return of the Originals, sorry! I have started it, mid-way through it. It’s just… I know, no excuses. But still, Finished another one for a new series. It involves gods and hunky dragons, a cheeky human drag queen… Forgiven? And the other new story… Let me just tell you I’m beginning to be afraid of sleeping in my new home.

I wanted to write something like this images

and it ended up more like this images.

A lot of the story is inspired by my move to English soil (and a leaky pipe in the wall of my bedroom. Still slowly dripping right now…).

It’s something a bit new for me, but I’m having fun and liking what I have so far. Hopefully I won’t be the only one, lol.

Um, what else? To all my internet friends-sorry! I am a lousy friend that doesn’t know how to stay in touch. I know, I know!

Name my punishment and I’ll submit to your whims.

Present your Ghosts- Article for Paranormal Love Features

I had a lot of cool ideas for an article (they were cool in my mind!) but after a scintillating conversation with a fellow colleague at Paranormal Love Features I was advised to write them all (lol, one at a time) and write what I know best. The title came as a joke, but it fits.

It has come to my  attention that because I’m from Romania, I could be somewhat called “Street Wise” in the paranormal. Hahaha, Yes, no. But in a way, I guess I am. But I always thought everyone was the same, you see.

Were you expecting I’ll talk about vampires after saying I’m from Romania? Huh, Bram Stoker never visited Romania and had no clue what we have around here in Eastern Europe. Though Romania apparently is close to being in Central Europe but now I’m getting into political issues…

Yes, I did say what we have around here.

As a writer of paranormal MM it came easy to me to immerse in a paranormal/ supernatural world because I saw signs of one existing from when I was a little girl growing up in rural Romania.

In the photo  you see Castelul Corvinilor. A nice place, do visit. Ring me if you do, you can maybe stay in my nearby childhood house if I’m back home.

And I’m not kidding you. My grandma knew to dodeochi spells, that cured you of the Evil Eye (I may know too…), my mother dreamt stuff before it happened (really, she knew my father had broken his leg before we got the phone call) and I accidentally did a tarot reading that predicted the death of my best friend’s grandfather. Creepy stuff. Great for writing inspiration. Those are stories that I have yet to tell. Soon.

But I digress.

Real life experience and stories of strange experiences were my first contact with the paranormal genre. Then there were the books. Not science fiction (well, there were those too) but books about the most strange places on Earth, weirdest archaeological discoveries, weird photos and events, etc. I liked the ones with scientific facts not stories to put children to sleep. Btw, If you ever go to Romania, never visit Forest Baciu, near Cluj after dark. Trust me on that.

At first I didn’t even have a TV, And this was happening in the ’90 folks. Then we didn’t have a lot of TV channels (Romania had been under the Iron Curtain until ’89). Finally, the movies came. I watched probably all that I came across that had a hint of supernatural or mystery. I name here Roswell, Tales from the Crypt, Poltergeist; The Legacy, The Outer Limits, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Millennium, Medium, Highlander, Xena and Hercules, Twin Peaks, Twilight Zone, Doctor Who, The X-Files, Star Trek, Stargate oh my! I saw a lot. I fell in love with the bad boy of Charmed, though Leo and Chris were not that bad either. Then came the golden age. Supernatural and Ian Somerhalder. Now while I love Dean Winchester (go team Dean!) and I adore the show, Ian is hot, hot, hot too. Pity I cannot stand the show. And to repeat something Dean said, please do not remind me of Twilight!

If I had space here I would post a lot of hotties that had come to my attention lately but the internet waves would blush and the blog taken down for inducing drool seizures. Alright two more! Ichigo from Bleach, a Japanese Anime
(he’s not even the hottest in that anime. And yes! I’m a geek and proud!) . Now I want to post Keanu Reeves in Constantine too. LOL. Next time. The other I guess you know already…

After and during the sudden invasion of supernatural movies I stumbled across manga and anime. Great stories, amazing art, original ideas. I learned a lot and discovered new variations of local myths and legends. I wonder if every country has them- you know the same legends only told differently. For Romania there were the strigoi– troubled souls of the dead rising from the grave. Some strigoi can be living people with certain magical properties. Some of the properties of the strigoi include: the ability to transform into an animal, invisibility, and the propensity to drain the vitality of victims via blood loss. These are our vampires one may say- vampire ghosts. I could bore you with actual fact about their existence and proofs but that is my private research, you’ll need to do your own :).

Then there are the vârcolac or pricolici– let’s call them man-wolves. And the zmeii and our own leprechauns and fairies.

There’s a lot to tell, but you can read a bit about it here Wikipedia. Especially in the links at the bottom of the Wikipedia article.

By the time I got into anime/manga and the latest movies,  I was writing paranormal but not publishing yet. I was writing from the age of nine but English language came a bit later. I had already a ton of material that could be used and too little time. The situation remains unchanged. I managed last year to get two books out, one this year and have currently one more finished, one sci fi story coming out next month, two WIPs half-done and a notebook full of half-planned novels. I think I’m at #78 with the ideas written there.

What was it that attracted you to the paranormal genre? I will not talk about what attracted me to writing Gay Romance, that’s a topic for another day.

For me it was always there and I got attracted to it even more when I realised it’s something special that not everyone has naturally in their lives. Plus it makes reality more interesting doesn’t it? I want to share that feeling of knowing that there is more than the eye can see or than the mind can understand. I have a lot of “ghosts” and other fantastical beings in my mind, some inspired from real life some because of too much coffee and too little sleep. What about you? Why do you read/write paranormal?

And just because I can and maybe I’ve made you curious (if you managed to finish reading all the verbal diarrhea until now) I’m posting here my book links. I promise to get better! I have some creepy ghost stories on the way!

New Book coming soon! Feeling accomplished. When I can muster the energy…

I’ve finished yesterday! One of my WIPs is sent to the publisher!

download (1)

Now all I need is a positive response and one more cup of tea before I get by to my other two WIPs yelling at me that I need to do them.

And I may have send the submission twice. What? I was delirious already, didn’t know what buttons to press anymore. And the Internet was acting crazy. Crazier than me.

I’ve spend half a day agonizing over the title. And bugging my family to brainstorm with me. Not good. My family is supportive but they’re all disgustingly straight and vanilla. Meaning I cannot use them as inspiration or to give me toher feedback than laughter and expressive shocked faces. My sister didn’t know what a drag queen was… The horror!

Finally I decided on the title Drag Queen in the Dragon’s Lair with the help of my newly informed sister after the ritualistic faces and wide eyes and questions of that exist?, what is it? and my favourite often heard Why?. She ended up concluding that if women can wear pants, men should equally have the right to wear dresses and makeup. And that scots are hot and she wants to exchange her fiancée for a dragon-man. I’m proud of her.

Here’s my inspiration for  Ryuu-my drag queen that sadly doesn’t get to do that much drag shows and Troy- a naga dragon that is too stubborn for his own good and catches up a bit slowly, regardless of his smarts.

What if you suddenly found yourself in a Dragon’s Lair? What would you do? Mmmm. Enjoy it, of course. Especially when the dragon is so yummy!
Ryuu had spend his life having to explain why he likes dressing in woman’s clothes and resenting that he was different. Travelling the country with his boyfriend and working as a drag queen entertainer had been fun. Until it got old. The moving around and the boyfriend. Finding a new stable job in Boston is a godsend. He doesn’t know yet just how true is that statement is.
Troy lives in his caves. He hardly goes out, unless his somewhat friend, Hermes, makes him. Yes, that Hermes. And Troy’s that old. And weary. He’s a naga dragon and has no time or patience for humans’ bullshit. Then he hits a human with his car and takes him home. His life will never be the same.
Will the stubborn dragon realize what treasure he had stumbled upon, with a bit of friendly help? The sex is great but is that the only think that is special about Ryuu? Even if he does open his eyes in time , Ryuu may not survive the sudden immerse in a world where dragons are venomous snake-like hunky guys and mythological gods own clubs. Especially if you mix in all the craziness an impulsive competitive brother and a scary as hell future mother-in-law.
Hopefully my new series Fated- this new book being Book One in it- will soon be up next to my other series, Return of the Originals.
Wish me luck!
Going back to work now… Ugh,
